Parents, supporters, friends and members of the greater Monsey community gathered Sunday night for the third annual Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka (MBCM) High School for Girls dinner.

The dinner was held right before Chof Beis Shvat, the yahrzeit of the Rebbetzin for whom the school is named, in the elegant ballroom of the Regency Banquet and Conference Center in Nanuet where the many in attendance enjoyed a fine wine and cheese smorgasbord and sumptuous dairy dinner.

The evening began with the recitation of Tehillim.

Rabbi Yossi Touger, who coordinated the dinner, then introduced the president of MBCM, Yisroel Schulman, Esq., who gave opening remarks.

Following his remarks, Mr. Schulman introduced Dr. Yehudah and Mrs. Karen Schild who were presented with the Amud HaChesed award. Dr. Schild spoke beautifully, and with lots of humor, about his wife, Karen’s, tremendous commitment to the community through her selfless running of Shifra and Puah, and how much they appreciate the unique education Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka provides to their twin daughters.

Rabbi Dr. Chaim Dovid Kagan, founder and dean of MBCM, then presented the Parents of the Year award to Dr. Chaim and Mrs. Tovah Schild (no relation to the above Schilds). Dr. Schild gave a moving dvar Torah and expressed deep appreciation to the faculty and administration of Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka for providing a warm and Chassidishe chinuch for their daughters.

The keynote was delivered by Dr. David Lazerson, the renowned educator known as Dr. Laz, who gave an entertaining talk full of humorous stories of his teaching experiences. Following benching, Dr. Laz pulled out his guitar and farbrenged with the crowd.

Everybody left the dinner with a gift, a silver plate and wood MBCM pushka.

Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka High School for Girls opened in September of 2006 and has grown to almost 60 students, including approximately 30 from Monsey, 15 from New Jersey, Connecticut and other areas around New York and 12 students from around the United States and world.
